Art by some Friends of the Old Brickfield

We are lucky to have two talented artists among the Friends of the Old Brickfield. You can see Margo's work at the Quayside in Newhaven and David (who also creates the wonderful art for our posters and games) is showing his work at the Star Brewery in Lewes.

🌿 Old Brickfield Wildlife Fair

31 July 2026

We had a great time on Friday at Seaford Old Brickfield’s annual wildlife fair. About 150 people turned up over the day to explore the Brickfield and its wildlife. Special guests, Hope and Anger Singers sang an amazing set of rounds and shanties as well as their own compositions. Our regular experts, Marianne and Steve, respectively led the willow weaving workshop and bug hunt which were as popular as ever. In addition, we had pebble painting, cake decoration and plants stalls, games a lucky dip and last but certainly not least, a lot of cake!

🌿 Old Brickfield Friends at Seaford’s Nature Day

The Old Brickfield was one of many local groups that took part in the launch of the Seaford Biodiversity Project on 18 July.

There were workshops and talks on the importance of exploring and recording the rich natural life in and around Seaford. Find out more at Renaturing Seaford.

There was a lot of interest in wildlife on the Brickfield as well as the restoration of our much loved but sadly vandalised fingerpost.

The mats have gone down for this year’s reptile count. Once a month, a volunteer will gently raise each of the 6 mats placed on the field and take a photo of what is there.

We will be counting the different types of butterfly on the field once a month from May until October. We'll share the results with Sussex Wildlife Trust and the Rangers at Lewes Council.

Sadly our fingerpost was vandalised last year. It needs a complete restoration. If you would like to donate to save this unique feature of Seaford’s heritage, please get in touch.
